EARLIER TODAY: Kabataan Partylist joined the Day of Solidarity for our Jeepney Drivers at UP Diliman, Quezon City to forward the demands for socio-economic aid and the call to allow the safe resumption of regular jeepney operations.
Relief goods were distributed to the jeepney drivers who were able to join the program, as there were drivers barred from entering the university grounds by the Philippine National Police who guarded its numerous entrances.
Yesterday, authorities warned jeepney drivers of joining the Day of Solidarity, despite the pressing need to assert their rights to their livelihood and the need for immediate socio-economic aid. In this crisis worsened by the inadequate response from the national government, the administration through the police adds salt to the wound to the already terrible conditions of our drivers.
Despite these adversities, we will resist tyranny and fight for our rights as one. Stand with our jeepney drivers in the fight for their democratic rights! Stand for safe and mass-oriented public transportation!
